Timber & Ply Doors

A routine clean of the garage door is recommended at least every 3 months. It may be washed with water and a mild detergent followed by a clean water rinse. This will help keep dirt, grime and salt from building up and affecting the coating. Avoid using abrasives or strong chemicals when washing the door.

We recommend that you regularly inspect your door for any paint breakdown, paying special attention to the edges as it is along these areas that water ingress is more likely to start.

Check the surfaces every 4 to 6 months and re-coat as necessary. The frequency and number of coats will vary depending on aspect, atmospheric conditions, thickness of existing coatings, exposure to the elements and other contaminants. We suggest that you consult your coating supplier for advice on coating amounts and procedures.

Door Hardware

Our hardware componentry is made up from a mixture of steel, aluminium and nylon. All the
components require regular cleaning and lubricating in order to keep them functioning at their best. This also includes the springs.A light wash with water or simple wipe down is sufficient before lubricating components. Check that all components are locked in position tightly and securely with fasteners and have not come loose.

We recommend that you keep your door serviced regularly by a qualified technician.
